FR. JOHN PAUL’S SPIRITUAL BREW: It is with great joy that we prepare to begin a new semester at the University of Arizona! My first semester allowed me an initial experience of a community that has a long history of not only joyful outreach to the undergraduates students of the U of A, but also to the many graduate students, faculty, and staff of the university. In addition to those presently at the U of A, are numerous alumni, young adults, and others who celebrate the Newman Center’s mission of welcome and outreach to the students, as well, as support by their presence and financial resources, to the community, not only for its survival, but also towards its flourishing, the promotion of future leaders, and well informed Catholics who bring the light of Christ into to the world. As we prepare to celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King weekend, may we feel the call to work towards peace and justice for all, and do so with the same grace, love, and intelligence that he did. May God bless us in the new semester and new chapter in our nation’s history. May we be courageous as we step out into a wider landscape, and “may the good work begun in us” be brought to completion in Christ Jesus.” Amen!
